Jamul Pest Control San Diego Termite Tent Fumigation services, also called structural fumigation, involves covering a home in large, vinyl-coated tarps, creating an airtight seal, and filling it with a gas like Vikane (sulfuryl fluoride) to eliminate widespread drywood termite infestations by reaching every nook and cranny, a process requiring temporary evacuation, removal of food/plants, and careful aeration for safety, typically taking 3 days.

Termite Tent Fumigation Process:

01. Preparation

Homeowners must move out, along with all pets, plants need to be moved away from the tent, food and medications need to be bagged using nylofume bags provided complementary with the tent. We offer a complementary preparation meeting to guide you through the preparation process and We will provide you with a check list to make things easier.  San Diego Gas and Electric will disconnect the gas for the fumigation and reconnect the gas after the tent is completed, but the power can stay on.

04. Aeriation

After about 24-48 hours, the tent is removed, and the house is aired out (aerated) for several hours. Only licensed professionals can enter the property at this point.

05. Clearance

Technicians perform air quality tests to ensure the gas has dissipated to safe levels before posting a re-entry notice(clearance).

02. Tenting

Professional fumigators drape the entire structure, from roof to foundation, with heavy tarps and secure them to create an airtight enclosure. At this point no one should enter the structures tented.

03. Fumigation

A colorless, odorless gas (usually Vikane) is pumped in, often with a warning agent (chloropicrin), to penetrate all wood and kill termites. Fans circulate the gas for thorough treatment.

06. Other Pests a Tent can help Control

A fumigation tent can also be used to effectively control other pests like bedbugs, wood beetles, german roaches and more, the amount of time the tent is up to achieve the control depends on type of pest, as an example bedbug tents normally take 4 days, and require higher concentrations of gas active for a longer period of time. All the gas is still ventilated at the last day of the fumigation process, this part of the process is called aeriation.
